Got a few more SEO jobs this week. One is for a scrap metal recycler in Victoria, with a huuuuuge keyword list.
My main strategy for this project is to start with some on page SEO. Plenty of great content and pages on this site so not much to do there. I do find that many websites suffer in the search engines for not using relevant keywords pointing back to the pages. For example, say a website has 200 pages, now that is at least 200 links back to the homepage right?
However, most of these links are hyperlinked with the word “Home”. What a waste! Google and many other search engines will think one of your keywords is “Home” …. which isn’t too bad if you are in Real Estate!
So one of the first things I like to do, is find a few random keywords on each page and hyperlink them to the main URL or other relevant pages.
I am going to focus mainly on a small part of the list for now, focusing on:
This is actually a much shorter version of the list I am working with.
Now your probably thinking having links on your pages will make your website look like a dogs breakfast! Well, there is a way around that if you know a little about CSS (cascading style sheets). I set up an id in the CSS for my inbound links, to look as natural text. A person reading the page may notice the link if they hover over the word, but it is more for the search engines to build an association with those keywords to that page.
Time for a quick update: Plenty of page one results for these keywords. Really fast movement with the Victorian keyword phrases, which is what the client wants.
