There are heaps of different types of insurance I found today while doing a day of SEO for a local insurance broker called MIB.

I am trying to focus on two main services they do for key phrases. One being public liability insurance, a must have for most businesses in case something goes wrong. The second one is professional indemnity insurance, which is useful in the situation that incorrect or negligent advice results in a court case.

It has been a slow start to this project as we have transferred over domains from to a more keyword oriented domain name –

While the name is much longer, I find that Google and the other search engines, really like keyword domains, listing them much higher with much less work at my end.

Not many of the keywords and phrases I am hoping to get some movement in are even listed in Google. This is great from my point of view. It means I can’t really go backwards, which can happen when messing around with domains and 301 redirects.

Should have some awesome results by the end of this one.

Got a new SEO gig that should go really well as it a fairly niche set of keywords I have to work with. Below are the main ones, but I really want to focus on the “Office Fitouts Melbourne” key phrase as many of my keywords are variations of this phrase and it is the first one that come up in Google’s predictive search results.

  • Office Fitouts Melbourne
  • Office Ideas Melbourne
  • Office Designs Melbourne
  • Office Interiors Melbourne
  • Office Partitions Melbourne
  • Office Workstations Melbourne

Before SEO

Here is what I got when I ran the current data through my Market Samurai program.

Kind of a blank canvas in terms of SEO. But that is what I like to work with, the only way is up.

Current SEO results

Amazing what a couple of weeks can do in terms of Google positions.

I am hoping Bing and Yahoo also come to the party. But for now, things seem to be moving smoothly.

You will probably notice the backlinks have vanished from the second screenshot due to a change to Yahoo Site Explorer, which is causing a few headaches for the good people who make Market Samurai.

Couple more weeks and I should have a few more page one results for these keywords. I have purchase two great keyword domain names which I hope to setup with a bit of Adsense and Chitika ads.

The domains I got were keyword related which I am going to whip up a quick free site with Weebly.

Today I want to share with you the secret of gaining backlinks your competitors have using one of my current clients JH Fox Plumbers Kew as an example.

As you can see by the obvious link, that this is the number one keyword I am chasing.

As well, as using my own preferred backlinking hot spots. I like to see what the number one result in Google has in the way of backlinks. Google will not tell me this information, however, Yahoo Site Explorer displays a comprehensive list of links.

baclinks, SEO,In this case, all 309 links except for one are from the same site. Nothing of value can be gained from this sites links.

I then move down the list to to check out sites ranked 2 – 10 for this term. One strong one I found from Squidoo inspired me to whip up a new lens. Lenses are Squidoo slang for articles.

I went for the title, How to pick a good plumber and an just working on the content as we speak .. or should I say, as I type 🙂

The beauty of Squidoo is the freedom you have over your articles. All the links are dofollow, meaning Google page rank can be passed on to your site over time.

The other words I am working with on this project which I present to you in hyper-linked H1 tags to advance their status in the Search engines are …

Plumbers Richmond

Richmond is a suburb right next to Melbourne CBD. Why am I telling you all this? Well I am more so telling the search engines this. They crawl the page and see that the term “Plumbers” and “Richmond” are in the content. Brownie points will also be given for using those words in the title, the URL and the H1 tag. This blog post will then be seen as relevant and should pass on some this strength to the website I am promoting.

Plumbers Hawthorn

Ahhh, makes sense doesn’t it! Both this blog post and the website will hopefully move up a spot or two.

Another important factor that Google uses is Pagerank. Over time, your articles may gain pagerank as a reward for their popularity. Each rank scaled from one to ten holds the power of 10. So a site with a pagerank of 3 is ten times more powerful than a site with a pagerank of 2.

Plumbers Balwyn

Don’t let pagerank scare you off though, it is still quite easy for new sites to move above high pageranked sites if they have great content. If you have great content, update it regularly and find relevant backlinks, then you too can hold a number one ranking in the search engines.

Before I go, I thought it best to share some of the results from my last blog post. I have managed to get to position 7 in Google Australia for my main keyword term of “New Years Eve in Melbourne“, which is quite impressive for two short weeks.

Till next time 😉

First of all, I want to update anyone that read my last post Venues Hire in Brisbane, that the negative results I got from all those backlinks were only short term.

The new backlinks, while were linked to some powerful content, did take the shift off the word Brisbane. However, Yahoo loved the links! The site quickly moved to number one for one off the keywords and number three for the other one.

But now I am moving on to my next exciting project. As the title of this postNew Years in Melbourne suggests, it is a site totally dedicated to New Years in Melbourne.

This site is only a few days old, but I have a challenge to obtain high rankings for this site in a very short amount of time. I will be dedicating plenty of time to craft strategic blog posts, articles etc. to get this one to the top.

It has a good start, as the domain name is one of the exact key-phrases I am chasing. Other variations I am looking for are New Years Melbourne, New Years in Melbourne and Melbourne New Years.

It is pretty much a one month challenge, so I will keep you updated on where I am at with this project.
